How do I use essential oils?
Essential oils can be used in diffusers or oil burners, applied topically (when diluted with a carrier oil) or added to bath blends and homemade aromatherapy mixes.
Can I apply essential oils directly to my skin?
Always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil before applying to skin. Perform a patch test first and avoid contact with eyes, inner ears and sensitive areas. Keep out of reach of children. Do not ingest.
What are carrier oils and why do I need them?
Carrier oils are vegetable oils used to dilute essential oils before topical application. Common carrier oils include coconut oil, sweet almond or jojoba. They prevent irritation and allow for safe application.
Can I use essential oils during pregnancy?
Always consult with your healthcare provider before using essential oils during pregnancy. Always err on the side of caution.
Are essential oils safe for pets?
Many essential oils can be toxic to pets (especially cats and dogs). Never apply essential oils directly to pets or diffuse oils in enclosed spaces. Make sure there is plenty of ventilation when diffusing any essential oils around animals.
